Day 54 (August 25th)

Moncton, NB to Stratford, PEI

I said my goodbyes to Doug and Jake when they headed off to class and then got to work myself making the required repairs to the rear rack. This time I made several spare metal clasps in case the piece broke again. Should have done that last time.

When I arrived in Shediac, I was hit with that delightful sea smell, which had been absent since Quebec as I'd been riding inland.

A few more turns of the wheel and I was loading my bicycle onto a trailer so as to take the pedestrian and cyclist shuttle across the Confederation Bridge to PEI. Neither pedestrians or cyclists are allowed to cross the 10km bridge except by shuttle. The shuttle ride was free, as you are only charged when you take it in the other direction!

I couldn't find an official "Welcome to PEI" sign, so I contented myself with an Anne of Green Gables sign (see below).

I dawdled a fair bit in PEI, most notably at Argyle Shores Provincial Park, though I still made it to Charlottetown for nightfall. I took in my first lobster dinner at Walter Prince Corner Shop before crossing the causeway to Stratford and hiding my tent for the night.
