Day 0ish (July 2nd)

Well... I made it. 130 km by bike, plus a ferry ride, 12.25hr later! After a quick tour of the streets for food and beer, I've returned to the room to sit with my legs up. Right now I am waiting for Ian's flight to get in. I better not hear any 'slack/falling behind' comments from him tomorrow seeing as he is a day behind now!

I had no issues with the bike being fully loaded, thou I did notice a big difference in the torque needed to get up to and maintain speed. All my kit loaded on fine, and the only issue I had was the direct charge cable for my iPhone wasn't working. Luckly I was stopped in Nanaimo for a snack when I found out, and there was a Walmart across the street.

At the hotel here I had to 'check my bike in'... Basically I get to keep it in a locked office in the back. I would rather bring the bike up to the room, but can't be done. But the security guy that lead me there was very patient as I took everything off. This included the panniers, and front bags.

Not sure if Ian is making an entry tonight, but it will definitely be his turn tomorrow!
