Hedley to Osoyoos, BC
Yesterday we traveled from Hedley to Osoyoos ("oh-sue-use"), about 78km. This region is actually considered desert, and stretches all the way to Mexico. Figured the temperature topped out at 38c with very little shade available.
We got into Osoyoos for the bike shop just in time. They actually closed while we were in there. We picked 3 tubes for Tyler's bike and he is now back at full strength.
Both of us were a bit heat exhausted and decided to cool down before considering what to do.
1. Push on up the next crazy hill and try to find a spot to sleep.
2. Stay local, use the night to relax, and start 'fresh' in the morning.
#2!!
The route we did take yesterday is on a desert wine route. There is a river that runs parallel to the road that supplies all the vineyards and farms in the area. Only issue for us is everything is fenced off, and there are no big trees for shade.
Butts are getting tender, but minds are still healthy

It's my third time trying to leave a comment. Ian, as you know I'm not as savvy as I should be on blogs. Way to go guys. We're expecting you around Tuesday or Wednesday for beer and steak in Calgary. Can't wait to catch up on your adventures... See you soon! De & Dad
I had to whine at Tyler for about five minutes the other night before he agreed to change the day numbering, allowing his ride from Courtenay to Vancouver to have occurred on "Day Zero".
Tyler is so nice. Very smelly right now though... oh wait, that's me...
