The plan worked! We were up for 0530 and on the road for 0630. It was nice and cool for the switch backs out of Osoyoos. It was hard to have pedaled for 20 mins only to see the road your were just on 30 feet below you. We were in a good rhythm and just plugged away.
At the top was a rest stop, with a coffee house that just called to Tyler. It looked like a nice building, but wasn't open! We still topped up our waters and took a break. 5 minutes after we left Tyler realized he'd left his gloves resting on the back of his bike. We'd have gotten much farther if Ian hadn't noticed one of them fallen on the ground!
After another half hour of gentle hills and curves we hit the Anarchist summit (1233m). There was a sharp decent right after, and Tyler clocked a speed of 54km/hr. This took us 'into' Bridesville, which was no more then a bump in the road. But apparently it did have a train station. It almost felt like a post nuclear town. That was where the one video was taken, and the music was fitting.
Our next stop was Rock Creek for some supplies and a quick break. We met 3 older guys who where doing a trail ride of the Penticton loop area. Rock Creek is 'famed' for finding gold first in BC.
After that was a quick break in Midway. Did you know Midway is midway between the Pacific and the Rockies?
Next came Greenwood. We stopped in quickly at the tourism place to enquire about the road ahead and more water! Upon leaving there Tyler noticed his back tire was flat. It was a much smoother repair this time and Ian's pumped worked great! After a short ride Ian realized he left his sun glasses behind. He left his bags with Tyler and raced back to find them (which were we did the tire repair).
Our plan was to get Grand Forks and camp there. Shortly after leaving Greenwood big dark clouds started coming together and we were in and out the rain a little bit. At the half way point there is the Wilgris rest stop we stopped at to wait and see what the weather was going to do. It's fortunate we did because 10 mins later the sky opened up and down came the rain, thunder, and hail!
Once the bulk of it calmed down, Ian found a suitable spot behind the rest stop for us to setup camp and hide until the morning.
