Day 37 (August 8th)

North Bay to Stonecliffe, ON

Nadine and Nathan had long left for work by the time I dragged myself out of bed, which was unfortunate because I had hoped to snap a picture of the two before I left. I could have done it the night before, but I forgot with all the food and drink they were coming my way.

As the morning wore on I finally made it on to the road and rode East, encountering a pair of riders from the Velo Quebec group.

I soon noticed that my bike still had a flag pole attached to it, but that the reflective, orange, safety flag that should be at its top was missing. Sad news, as I quite liked that flag.
When I caught up to David at a construction stop in Mattawa, he kindly offered me a spare Palestinian flag. I politely declined and ducked in to a hardware store and bought some reflective tape to fashion a new flag.

We rode together until dark, when conveniently, we found an isolated little spot to set up tents on the shore of the Ottawa River, just West of Stonecliffe.
