I started the day by dropping a glove, but luckily I noticed within a kilometer.
It looked as though it would rain at any moment, so I rode on, hoping to get to Gatineau before the storm hit.
My reflective tape flag bit the dust. An expensive attempt. I decide to buy a new flag at some point.
I stopped in Aylmer to pick up some more tubes, and then made for the bike route. A detour turned me around and I lost the route for a while. Just as I found it again, I realized that the pouch holding my map, journal and toothbrush was missing. It took me about an hour and a half before I found it, nicely flattened by passing cars, but nevertheless! I was happy to have it back, and promised myself to be more careful.
I met up with my friend Jordan for drink and a meal, and conveniently, it rained quite hard the whole time we sat inside.
I finally connected with the route I was looking for, Quebec's 'Route Verte" (Green Route), and continue Eastward.
The route was great! It was well signed, and was even indicated on the province's road map. Even when it shared a road with traffic, there was always a paved shoulder and the road was smooth. Throughout a lot of the Gatineau region, the route was on a seperate path, right on the river, which afforded me some great views of parliament.
I set up my tent off the road and hidden near a rail line a bit West of Thurso when it gets dark.
