Today was quite the grind. We started out in some beautiful farmland surrounded by mountains. That didn't last for long as we quickly caught up with them, and received our first real use of the 'granny gear'.
Today the misfortune belonged to Tyler. After a flat rear tire mid-afternoon turned into a more than an hour-long project and two additional dead tubes... The lesson learned was when using Ian's pump, inflate on a hard surface and not the grass beside the road.
Our plan was to leave Hope and make it to Manning Park Resort. But between the tire issue, and hill upon monster hill we didn't make it. We did cross Valley Meadow RV Park where we were gouged at the general store for food ($4.99 for small peanut butter and $2.00 for a box of KD).
The sun was getting quite low around 1900, so we started looking at 'backup' camp sites if we didn't see any relief in site. Eventually at 2000, with another big climb ahead we finally found a suitable spot that is near impossible to see from the road.
With no cell signal (or radio stations either!) this post will have to be uploaded tomorrowish... Well see how far we get!

This is extremely interesting, keep up the blogging. It seems very unfortunate to have those tires blowing out, knock on wood i've yet to have a flat while riding.
Food was a big question I had about this. It seems you wouldn't want to be eating shitty when you need as much energy as possible. Are you downing gatorades or something the entire way?
At any rate, very inspirational that you guys are doing this. It motivated me to get the bike out and start exploring a little more. I might get ambitious and bike to Cambridge... from Guelph :P
Good luck, gents.
