Today was a sleep in day. It was also only the 2nd time the weather bands on the radio worked. The lid on the tomato pesto bottle leaks, so now Tyler's left pannier smells like last nights supper.
Right out of Castlegar we started into our ascent. It was a hot climb and to our dismay, we were passed by a very smug looking butterfly. We eventually hit the Bombi summit (1214m).
Into Salmo for food, water and our standard 'next stage' plan. Push on to the Kootenay summit, and crash at the top. Thankfully there was little traffic for our 3+ hour chug (I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...) to the top! Four fifths the way up a spontaneous snow ball fight broke out. Shortly after that we had to stop to let a herd of 15+ long horned mountain goats cross the road!

Love the video! I bet it doesn't even do the view justice! Who won the snow ball fight?
