Sault Ste. Marie to Thessalon, ON
I showered again and packed up my things before making a few purchases at Velorution when it opened. I replaced the shredded Gatorskin tire with a more sturdy Schwalbe Marathon Plus touring tire. It was the heaviest, stiffest tire that I'd ever handled and I actually had to ask for advice on how to get the darn thing on. The trick is just to forget tools and just manhandle it on.
Anyway, I took a few more hours making tune-ups before rolling over to a grocery store and then finally starting out.
Outside of town, I ran into Dennis Baldwin, who handed me some maps of routes that would get me to Sudbury while avoiding as much of the TransCanada Highway as possible.
A while later I saw a farm supply store and popped in to buy some Bag Balm, a product made for cow utters but that previous internetting had told me was great for cyclist's butt too.
A few more spins of the wheel and I pulled into Thessalon, where I found an isolated beach, had a swim, and called it a night.

Bag Balm is a great face moisturizer too. Don't ask me, ask Shania Twain.
Ya, this bag balm can be a bit of a blessing when it comes to Chafing. Original purpose was for chapped cow udders. Was introduced to it by a gardener who swore by it to help heal the ailments of gardening sores on hands.
